Your tattoos don’t need to be permanent. At Advanced Skincare Surgery & MedCenter, we offer the most advanced laser tattoo removal techniques aimed at gently but effectively removing pigments from within the skin, helping men and women from throughout the Los Angeles, CA, areas restore skin to its original, healthy appearance.
In 2013, Advanced Skincare Surgery & MedCenter began offering PicoSure®, the revolutionary picosecond laser.* Our office is unique because we have different types of lasers to meet the needs of any tattoo patient.* If you are looking for tattoo removal, be sure to ask what laser is used to ensure you get the best results possible.*
As soon as you get a tattoo, your body will start trying to remove it. Ink is a foreign substance, and your immune system reacts the same way that it would to a cold or any other kind of infection. You know this is happening because even though a tattoo will start out perfect and pristine, it won’t take long before it starts getting faded and hazy looking. This is your body trying to remove the tattoo ink.
What laser removal does is simply make the process that is already happening work better, faster and far easier. The lasers will shatter the ink into small particles so that your body is able to effectively clear it from your system.
Until the launch of PicoSure, Q-Switched lasers had been considered the gold standard for removing tattoos. Q-switched laser treatments use thermal energy to heat up and break apart the ink particles. Now with PicoSure, ultra-short pulses (one trillionth of a second in length) hit the ink particle with a pressure so great, the ink shatters into tiny dust-like particles.* Because the particles are so small, they are more readily absorbed and eliminated by the body. This can mean better clearance of the tattoo and less treatments overall.*
Every tattoo is unique and contains different colors and different volumes of ink. It’s important to speak with one of our specialists to find out how many treatments you may need, and what to expect.
How is the PicoSure laser different than the more common Q-switched laser?
Although PicoSure is thes best option for most tattoo removals, Advanced Skincare Surgery & MedCenter also offers conventional (YAG) laser tattoo removal.* YAG laser tattoo removal may be utilized over PicoSure removal for several reasons:
